Your colonoscopy will be performed as a day-stay procedure in a hospital of your choosing. This is a painless procedure performed under sedation by an anaesthetist. You will need to drink clear fluids 24 hours prior to your colonoscopy and will also need to drink a bowel preparation (Pico-Prep) prior to your colonoscopy.
YOUR SURGICAL PROCEDURE
Most patients are admitted to the hospital on the day of surgery. Admission times will be advised by the hospital on the afternoon prior to surgery. The times will vary depending on the expected time for commencement of surgery. Fasting for 6 hours (no food or liquids) is required prior to your surgery. If you are having bowel surgery you will require clear fluids and bowel preparation (PicoPrep) 24 hours prior to your surgery. If you are having surgery to the anus or rectum, you will require an enema (Fleet) which will be administered in hospital 1 hour prior to your surgery.
The Australian Medical Association (AMA) recommended amount is charged for all consultations.
