Anal Physiology Testing

Anal physiology testing or biofeedback is often required prior to any planned surgery, particularly that related to the lower rectum or anus.

Such tests include anal manometry to measure the squeeze and resting pressures of the anal sphincter, endoanal ultrasound (EAU) to look at the integrity of the anal sphincters, and pudendal nerve studies, to look at the functioning of the nerve supply to the anus.
